My therapy incorporates three main areas:
Talking Therapy
Relational Therapy
Learn Focusing online or in Person
So what's the difference?
I understand Counselling to be a shorter term series of Therapy sessions, Focused around a current topic which is impacting your life at the moment. This may also lead to a Psychotherapeutic approach
Psychotherapy is the exploration of your developmental years and relationships. This can bring an awareness to patterns of behaviour which may no longer be serving you.
Psychotherapy and Counselling are both grounded in the science and theory of Psychology.
In a Counselling session I know that you will feel heard, validated and accepted for who you are without judgement. You'll have the opportunity to talk about your situation and experience and so doing - get in touch with your thoughts and feelings. This helps you to develop your strengths and resources to be able to move forward.
I am experienced in working with adults in; bereavement, relationship issues, Co-Parenting, trauma, work/life stress, low self esteem, anxiety and depression.
Don't worry about having to dig into your past. We will go at the pace which feels safe for you to explore whatever it is that has encouraged you to reach out for support.
I have found Person Centred Counselling to be very empowering, it allowed me to discard old belief systems, make appropriate choices & generally feel much happier in myself. An embodied approach has helped me to connect with a my more complete self. When appropriate I may introduce you to the 'Felt Sense' of your experience through breathing and grounding and sensing into the physical body.

It takes courage to admit that you might need support in your relationship and to get both of you onboard to see a Therapist.
I have worked with many couples who have benefitted from being in an environment where the dynamic of their relationship is reflected back to them.
In the initial appointment Paula will take a history of each individual and the relationship. We'll look at the dynamics of your relationship and how you might begin to meet each other again.
In between sessions Paula may suggest some skills to work on.
Focusing is a non invasive technique similar to Mindfulness. Developed from Psychotherapy research in the 1960's by Eugene Gendlin. It is a technique which continues to grow globally.
Focusing teaches us a series of steps which allow us to 'go beyond the story' of a situation's. Continual rumination doesn't usually resolve anything. Focusing encourages us to find and stay with the felt sense of what's going on. It allows us to dialogue with emotions, or physical symptoms. I find this to be a transformational process
Individual sessions are available In- Person or via Zoom
However Focusing is a skill which you can bring in to your life by joining an Introductory course.

The Foundational Skills Level indorporates 60 hours.
